Effective date: July 31, 2026

This Privacy Policy describes how KOHORT ("we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and protects your information when you use our social platform and related services (the "Service"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to the practices described in this policy.

1. Information We Collect

We collect information you provide directly to us, including:

  • Account information: email address, username, display name, and profile picture.
  • Content you create: posts, captions, photos, videos, music tracks, comments, albums, playlists, and polls.
  • Subscription and payment information: checkout and order identifiers used to manage your subscription plan. We do not store full payment card details — payment processing is handled by our payment provider.
  • Communications: direct messages and activity notifications generated through your use of the Service.
  • Usage data: device type, browser, interaction logs, and analytics events that help us improve the Service.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide, operate, and maintain the Service;
  • Authenticate your identity and manage your account;
  • Display your content and profile to other users in accordance with your privacy and lock settings;
  • Process subscription payments and grant access to paid features;
  • Send notifications about activity, mentions, and subscription updates;
  • Detect, prevent, and address fraud, abuse, and violations of our policies;
  • Comply with legal obligations.

3. Kohort Cards, Locks, and Visibility

KOHORT gives you control over who can see your content through Kohort Cards, lock/unlock settings, and Soft Lock (Go Private) features. When you lock your Kohort Card or enable Soft Lock, your content is hidden from users who have not been granted access. You are responsible for managing these settings to reflect your desired level of privacy.

4. Information Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We may share your information in limited circumstances:

  • With other users: content and profile details you choose to share, consistent with your privacy settings.
  • With service providers: third-party vendors that help us run the Service (e.g., payment processing, file storage, email delivery). These providers are bound by confidentiality obligations.
  • For legal reasons: when required by law, court order, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of KOHORT, our users, or others.
  • Business transfers: in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, subject to confidentiality obligations.

5. Data Retention

We retain your information for as long as your account is active. If you deactivate your account, your data is scheduled for permanent deletion. Posts you delete are moved to a trash area for 30 days before permanent removal. Certain information may be retained longer where required by law or for legitimate business purposes such as fraud prevention.

6. Data Security

We use administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect your information. However, no system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee the absolute security of your data. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials.

7. Cross-App Synchronization

KOHORT may synchronize certain data (posts, albums, playlists, activities, and profile settings) with the original KOHORT application to keep content consistent across platforms. Synchronized records are tagged with a source identifier and a sync timestamp to prevent duplication and infinite loops.

8. Your Privacy Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you;
  • Request correction or deletion of your personal information;
  • Opt out of certain data processing or notifications;
  • Withdraw consent for processing where we rely on your consent.

To exercise these rights, contact us through the in-app support or the email associated with your account. You can also delete your account at any time by visiting kohortsocial.com/admindelete.

9. Children's Privacy

The Service is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with information, please contact us and we will take steps to delete it.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you through the Service or by other means. Your continued use of the Service after a change takes effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

11. Contact Us

If you have questions about this Privacy Policy or your data, please contact us through the in-app support options or the email associated with your KOHORT account.
